Find out how to use 2-Factor Authentication for different usertypes on your ATS
2-Factor Authentication (or 2FA) allows customers to set up Multi-Factor Authentication for their ATS users.This provides an extra level of security than the traditional password.
2FA can be set on an individual basis (so everyone will be required to use it), or as mandatory for specific usertypes if preferred.
Please note - If you require 2FA to be turned on for specific usertypes, this is done for you by Tribepad.
Logging in to the platform when 2FA is mandatory
Once 2FA has been set up, as an individual user you can login to your ATS account as normal.
You will see a screen that looks like this:
Before you login, you will need to generate an OTP - a ‘One Time Passcode’.
Simply select the ‘Send Email’ button and an email will be sent to you.
The email will look something like this:
Simply enter the code that you have received, into the 'Enter your OTP' field (as detailed above).
Once logged in, you are able to use the ATS as normal.
Setting up an Authenticator App
Once you have logged into your platform, you may wish to use an Authenticator App instead
of generating an email each time you wish to log in.
To do this, go to your settings in the top-right corner of your screen:
Select the ‘Multi-Factor Auth’ tab:
You will see a screen that looks like this:
- The top option allows you to set up an Authenticator app to receive your OTPs.
With this option, you can either add the OTP to an Authenticator App you are currently using
by scanning the QR code, or you can download a new one. - These are widely available in the Apple and Google Play store:
Once downloaded, you can scan the QR code to generate a verification code, and this can
then be entered into the relevant field on the screen:
Managing 2-Factor Authentication
If, as an individual user, you do not wish to have 2-FA enabled on your ATS, and it has not
been set as a mandatory function by your organisation, you can manage this individually.
Go to ‘Settings’ in the top right-hand corner of your ATS:
From Settings, select the ‘Multi-Factor Auth’ tab:
You will see a screen like this:
Simply click ‘Disable OTP’ and the screen will refresh to show this screen:
Here, you will need to enter a verification code from your app and then select ‘Disable OTP’
again.
The screen will refresh and confirmation of the disablement will be displayed:
Please note - if 2FA is mandated for your usertype, you will be asked to set it up again at the next login.
Resetting 2-Factor Authentication
If a user requires their 2-FA to be reset, you can do this through Manage.
Login to Manage > Select ‘ATS Users’ > Select the relevant user:
Scroll to the bottom of the page once the user has been selected.
You will see this message:
- Simply click ‘Clear all MFA providers’ to remove any 2-FA that has been set up on an account.
The user will then be able to set up an Authenticator app again to obtain verification codes.
